Electric bicycle does not belong to the category of motor vehicles. In terms of traffic laws, electric bicycles must use non-motorized lanes.
"Technical Conditions for Safety of Motor Vehicle Operation" (GB7258-2004)
Article 3.5 stipulates “motorcycles” as follows: No matter what driving method is adopted, the maximum design speed of electric bicycle is greater than 50km/h, or if internal combustion engine is used, the two-wheeled or three-wheeled vehicle with a displacement greater than 50 ML, including two Motorcycles, side tricycles, and regular tricycles (side tricycles and regular tricycles can be collectively referred to as tricycles).
Article 3.6 stipulates: "Moped": Regardless of the driving mode, the maximum design speed is not more than 50km/h, and if the internal combustion engine is used, the displacement is not more than 50ML two-wheeled or three-wheeled vehicles, including two-wheeled vehicles Mopeds and three-wheeled mopeds, but excluding electrically driven two-wheeled vehicles with a maximum design speed of not more than 20km/h.
It can be seen that the electric bicycle with a design maximum speed of more than 20 kilometers per hour and less than 50 kilometers and an electric bicycle with a design maximum speed of more than 50 kilometers per hour should belong to the category of motor vehicles. In other words, the design of an electric bicycle with a maximum speed of less than 20 kilometers per hour does not belong to the category of motor vehicles.
